Homework in mathematics is set regularly across all year groups. The purpose of homework is practice, consolidation and preparation for the next lesson — not introduction of new material.

Frequency and duration. Years 7–9: 20–30 minutes per session, 2–3 times per week. Years 10–11: 30–45 minutes per session, 2–3 times per week. DP Years 12–13: 45–60 minutes per session or more, as required by the course. These are guidelines; actual time varies by task and student.

Late work. Students are expected to complete and submit homework on time. If a student is consistently unable to complete homework within the expected time, this is a signal — talk to the teacher. Chronic incomplete homework is addressed through the school's pastoral system.

Academic honesty. Students are expected to attempt homework independently before checking answers or seeking help. Copying another student's homework, or submitting AI-generated solutions, undermines the purpose of the task and is subject to the school's academic honesty policy.

Formal assessment tasks are announced in advance. Students are told which criteria the task assesses, the timing, and what is expected. Mark schemes are published after tasks are returned.

Missed assessments. Students who miss a scheduled assessment due to illness or approved absence should contact their teacher promptly to arrange an alternative sitting. Students who miss an assessment without a valid reason may receive a mark of zero or be required to sit the task under supervised conditions.

Appeals. Students who wish to query a mark should speak to their teacher first. If the concern is not resolved, the matter can be escalated through the year-level coordinator.
