Criterion A

Short written test on place value, the four operations, order of operations (BIDMAS), and finding factors and primes. Students show working on standard practice questions.
Patterns of multiples investigation
Criterion B
50 min
Students explore the multiples of different numbers on a hundred-square, look for patterns in the digits and positions, predict a general rule (for example, why all multiples of 9 have digits summing to 9), and verify their rule with further examples.
